SIGNAL PROCESSING

The personalization of rehabilitation therapy, together with the possibility of remote patient’s following, are the main innovative aspects of the work focused on the development of some methods to monitor remote biofeedback during the patient activity during the rehabilitation program conducted at home. The strength of this approach is the possibility to analyze, combine and correlate the parameters from biophysical sensors in contact with the patient and comparable with game parameters.

The heart rate (HR) was chosen as a physiological signal to analyze and monitor relevant changes during different phases of a rehabilitation session. Patient’s heartbeat, with a pulse oximeter transmitting data via Bluetooth, was recorded and after saving a session’s log, data are analyzed and processed with dedicated algorithms that extract the most important features. These data are also compared with game scores/data, to monitor progress with therapy and the involvement of the patient in the rehabilitation session.
